Homage to the Square

Just popping in to say hi, I am having a really nice time with mum, so that is why it has been pretty quiet here. The blog posting will go back to normal when she returns home in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile I thought that I would share a couple of pictures of this Homage to the Square artwork from Joseph Albers in Moma.
I had a customer come to buy fabric the other day for a quilt she is doing inspired by his artwork.

Sleeping Beauty Quilt

Effie has just made a gorgeous new Split Nine patch Quilt with just a smattering of Applique.
The colours compliment the Heather Ross fabric. The applique designs are from the fabric and Effie is scheduling a class to make the quilt and teaches you how sew on the designs with needleturn applique.
Give the shop a call if you are interested.

Modesty Blaise

Modesty Blaise was my favorite character from the newspaper comics when I was in my teens, so when
I saw this large poster at the market this morning I knew I could not leave her there.

Spring is Around the Corner

This week has just flown by, I was given this beautiful cake by one of the nicest people whom I have been lucky to meet through the shop.
I spent the beginning of the week at the Gift Fair and then picked up my mum. She is here for a month or so. I love having her. So my posts may be a bit intermittent while she is here.
This will give me some time at home to get some planned projects done.
Kathy kindly cut out this pretty combination for me yesterday.
These are the beautiful flowers I bought at the Camberwell Sunday market. It reminds you that Spring is just around the corner when the Delphiniums are only $5 a bunch, and Daffodils are $2.
With all the uglyness going on in the world I think it is always good to remember how fortunate we are and focus on the positives and counteract it with kindness and a smile. We are all one race, the Human Race.
p.s. sorry if this is a bit rambly that's just me.

This Week

Pictures tell the story of what I have been up to this week.
Apple fabric used for inspiration to make a cut and paste applique cushion.
Liberty binding used to make a rose.
Designed a Chevron Quilt in my new favourite colours and Carolyn whipped it up for me. (Soon to be a class)
Had an enjoyable class Saturday morning showing how to make a ripped quilt.
and finished the day in traffic driving back from the gift fair.
I love Cape lilac trees especially covered in berries. So couldn't resist taking a photo.
So that's the end of it.

This is my latest project I am about to start using the soft Nani Iro double muslin and Liberty pre cut binding. Makes for a very simple gift.
