New Stock Anna Maria Horner Velveteen
Sugestions for AMH Velveteens
Just arrived the gorgeous velvets from AMH at a great price comparable to what you would pay importing them yourself.
They would look great made up into a carpet bag.
Also Melody Millers fabulous novelty prints.
I will be offline for a week or more as I am having an op (girly stuff) so have a great week.
Dahlias
Every Sunday I buy flowers for myself, I think there is no better luxury to give yourself than fresh flowers.
Lucky for me the flower man at Camberwell market has the freshest flowers and seasonal ones are always a great price. Dahlias were my choice and I found this vase (bit of a strange one but I loved it) which was perfect for them as well.

NY Inspiration
New York is one of the most inspirational cities I have visited. My trip was to order the wonderful Lilith clothing that I stock in Scarlet Jones and the line didn't disappoint, it is their 20th anniversary and the clothing was wonderful. The new winter stock is just being put out at Scarlet so pop over to the blog this week and have a look, or better still come into the shop. Em has now started an online store for those who are not close.
While I was there I visited my favourite shops and took in the great displays, so creative. Thought you may like to have a look.

Happy Valentines Day
Happy Valentines Day to everyone, I found this funny little card at the market and thought it pretty cute! or a tad weird when I looked at it with my glasses on. anyway have a great day.
I won't be posting for a couple of weeks as I am going to a show in NY today.
All hard work though. Really! :) Meanwhile a whole lot of new fabric is due at the shop so hopefully I will get on the web when I get back. Bye.
P.S.
Scarlet Jones is having a serious final clear out of anything Summer. 70% OFF, still a lot of gorgeous Lee Mathews clothing etc.

Liberty Butterflies
Yesterday I actually got back into sewing and for a change was happy with what I made. I am the type if anything is not looking how I envisage it never get's finished.
Not a great trait I know, but luckily for me I just rip it up and put it in the scrap box at the shop.
I love the butterfly fabric I have at the shop and what better way to use it than pair it with Liberty fabric, the colours are perfect together.
I will make up a kit for anyone interested and a pattern will be available free with fabric for anyone else. It is made of fat 1/4s and all ripped. An easy made in an afternoon quilt.
It would be wonderful to do lots of embellishing on the butterflies but I will just be sending it to the machine quilters and hand stitching around the butterfly's.

Sorting
While in the shop the other day I started sorting out all those boxes that are hidden in back rooms.
I came across these two quilts that my mum had made a few years ago. Luckily even though the box they were in had been wet the quilts were relatively unscathed, only needing a wash to get the musty smell out.
The quilts are so charming and I am now going to send one to get quilted by machine but I think that the 1930's checkerboard quilt definitely needs hand quilting.

Sunday
I usually lead quite a mundane life but this Sunday I had a day that was absolutely filled.
Starting with my early morning a Camberwell Market for beautiful fresh flowers (pink was the colour of the day) I was lucky to bump into Adrienne and had a lovely catch up before she went to the shop for Sunday opening. She had a gift for me so extra surprise.
It was a great book on the flea markets around the world couldn't wait to look at it and it is full of photo's and great information, may even be lucky enough to get to some one day.
Next I went to the Gift Fair in the city and met a friend, had a quick run around.
Then to an open for inspection at Albert Park, thinking of moving.
Finally went to the Como to see the delightful doco on Bill Cunningham. The original "Sartorialist"
A must see! Bill is 80 years old and has been photographing fashion trends on the streets of New York for 50 years.
Japanese at the restaurant across the road for dinner after and home to quilt.
A day well spent!

image pinterest
For the lovers of Sunday shopping we are back to normal hours on Sunday 12 - 4pm. Adrienne and Anna will give you all the help you need while your partner takes the kids to the park across the road.
The cafe's in the strip are excellent and have wonderful food, all a little different. my favourites are
The Kitchen Table, very beautiful homecooked style, always delicious food.
The cellar across the road is a real surprise, very European and the muffins are to die for!

Mums Work
These are the knitting/crochet pieces mum did in her time here. When it comes to fibre craft I am a big failure, maybe one day I will put my mind to mastering them. I am sure it is because anything I wanted when I was younger mum could just whip it up in record time. It took her one night to do the hats with no pattern.
