Around the Shop

Just a quck post to say that Scarlet Jones is no longer stocking Children's toys etc, there are three shops in Auburn Village that are children's shops. So all the French brand Moulin Roty toys are now at Patchwork on Central and are discounted by 30%. Great opportunity to buy these collectable toys for someone you love at a great price.

Harvest Textiles Advanced Screen Print Class

Today I spent an enjoyable day with Lara Davies from Harvest Textiles. I would highly recommend her classes to anyone wishing to learn how to screen print your own designs. Earlier in the year I learned the basics, so this was one step on. The design I was inspired by is an old French wallpaper designed by Marie Laurencin in the Art Deco period.
Spot the difference! I learned a very good lesson on how not to reverse the screens. Luckily I still liked the result.
Lara is a wonderful teacher that has a very quiet informative teaching method. It was a lovely way to spend a wet Melbourne day.
They are moving to Brunswick next week and are leaving their old home at the Ink and Spindle studio.
See the link on my sidebar to see some more of their work.

Randoms

Haven't done any making this week, it has been filled up with sorting and redecorating the shop and home.
It always makes me feel good to change things around and have the shop looking gorgeous again, I will take some pictures today. So nice of those who have come in, to notice and comment as well. We have had an amazingly busy week.
On the home front I am deciding whether to keep these small suitcases or not. I will leave them there for a while and decide. Great for storage though.
I also looked at my purse this morning and decided next time someone hands me a useless receipt
(like for fruit) I will say no thanks. This is just a couple of months of crap that was filling it up.
Now to sort!

Roses & Liberty Club

This year the Roses are looking beautiful in Melbourne. The rain has been just what they needed after years of drought.
I thought I would show two of my favourite ones in the garden. The red one is called Prospero and has the strongest perfume, the other is Albertine. It only puts on one show a year but it is worth it.
Unfortunately the Possums love it too.
This week we have started our Liberty Club, you get 6 mail outs a year of 20 x 6" squares. You also get a pattern or project sheet with each mail out.
Joining the Liberty Club also entitles you to 10% off any Liberty fabric you purchase either online or in store.

Heath, Love and Wealth

And Time To Enjoy Them. Welcome to a new week.
What wise words are on this very old pewter plate, I think we all need to heed this advice, especially me, work has a way of becoming too big a part in my life, I am making a big effort to get out more and it works.
These are my market finds from yesterday that somehow found my way into the house. The vase is beautiful old heavy stoneware.
I know I am getting rid of things but these were just too nice not to keep. The Roses are Iceberg's from my garden. They are looking so pretty at the moment.

Tram Roll Fabric

Some weeks are better than others, but just when I was feeling like this Graffiti girl in Fitzroy,
someone does something incredibly nice.
The talented Nicole Rosenberg (www.littleliberty1.blogspot.com) kindly mentioned my Tram Roll Squares from Patchwork on Central Park in her article in the Sun newspaper. Thank you Nicole!

New Liberty Fabrics

Gordon came through the door with new fabrics Liberty fabrics yesterday.
Among this latest delivery were some new additions to the classic range. I particularly love the pink one.
I haven't been to Chapel Street for some time so last night walked along and had a drink in one of the many eatery's down there.
It is always nice to look at the different facade's of the building's. I particularly loved these shops. Hopefully the developers won't just wipe them out one day, as that is what make Melbourne so charming.
