Life on the Lawn
I always say I need go on the show " Life on the Lawn." At the moment we are having our own show.
I am having my house painted at the moment and talk about turmoil, all our possessions (maybe more of mine than anyone's) are in two rooms and out on the back lawn. I am even going to work really early to get out of the house.
Can't wait until they are finished but then the fun starts. I hate to think about putting it all back as now I look in and then shut the door, and do a Scarlet "tomorrow is another day!"
I bought these fragrant Lilly of the Valley at the Market this morning to cheer myself up, they are so pretty.
During the week I took some photo's of work in progress of lovely customers, that was looking just gorgeous. Loved the green version of Effie's split 9 patch.

Old and New
Yesterday a fellow came in with these old packets of cotton thread, I could have any colour as long as it was black. I bought them for display but if anyone wants to buy the single cotton reels or a packet just come into the shop and ask Effie.
Also this week we have received these beautiful velvet ribbons from a French company I bought from earlier this year. The 10m reels are $24 or $2.50m, the colours are really lovely.
I also have a photo of this gorgeous skirt a customer was wearing which looked like a version of the Amy Butler Barcelona skirt, as soon I get a minute I will have a go. I love a ripping challenge.
Couldn't resist a photo of the lovely collection of voile's I have in stock. They are all 54" and $25 a metre. Just wonderful for summer scarves or clothing.

Recycle
It's interesting how recycle is such a thing now, for our mothers and grandmothers it was just the norm. Everything was always re used and all mum's vegi scraps were just put in a hole in the backyard, things were mended and even when they could not be the buttons were always removed and then the fabric saved for the ragman.
These quilts were made many years ago from old 1980's prom dresses (remember that taffeta) I went "yuk" when Mum first made them but now see the beauty in them, the jewel colours are so pretty.
The bag is made like her rugs, crochet strips of leftover fabric, she made three while she was here.
I love it.

Remember Us
It has been well over a year since these kittens came to live with us, when they first came they were so scared that they spent most of the time for the first three months hiding. Unfortunately they had been severely mistreated, and I came very close to returning them to the Lort Smith home where the came from. I am so glad I didn't.
They have become the loveliest cats that are affectionate and have such sweet characteristics.

The Lost is Found
Well I have had a lovely month with my dear mum and sadly had to send her home on the weekend. I miss her already.
Mum is always losing her large crochet hook and when she finds it says ''the lost is found" just one of her funny little sayings that I find myself saying.
Does anyone else suddenly realize they are doing this the older you get.
Anyway the lost is really found in respect to my camera. I swear I searched my car three times (and it isn't full of crap as usual). Just tonight I looked down near my seat and there it was, I must be going mad.
So just in time as I have lots of new stuff to photograph at both of the shops now I am back to my normal blogging..
